Cameron Diaz isn’t sure if she would play Maria in a remake of The Sound Of Music
Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz isn’t sure if she would take up the role of Maria in a remake of The Sound Of Music after Julie Andrews said she would be perfect for the role.
Cameron, 36, was put forward as the ideal candidate by Julie, 73, who played the role of the fraulein in the 1965 film.
However, Cameron has poured cold water on the idea and said she is “flattered” she would suggest her for the role but not sure she would do it.
She said: “I don’t know if I would do it because that is one of those awe-striking moments. Julie is amazing and I don’t know if I could follow and act like that.
“I worked with her on Shrek.
“I got to spend some time with her during the press tour and she is just the epitome of grace and elegance so I’m very flattered that she even said that.”
