Michael Lohan mulls over Spears-like legal tactic

Michael Lohan vowed he would put his daughter Lindsay Lohan in detox if he could, but the likelihood of being charged with kidnapping keeps him from doing so.

Lohan told Access Hollywood that his efforts to get Lindsay back into rehab have failed and he is considering trying to take control through a legal conservatorship similar to the one Britney Spears’ father assumed over her.

“She won’t go [to detox]. I want Dina to help me. My son Michael continues to tell me, Daddy I know we have to do something,” said Lohan who is now in Los Angeles after making public claims of Lindsay’s spiralling prescription drug use that have left the starlet incensed and considering a restraining order.

Lohan noted he was not being paid for the interview and said if he had to use the media to save his daughter he would. He declared: “It’s that bad. I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t that bad. Someone’s got to take control and if I have to be the bad guy, I have to be the bad guy.”

He compared his own situation with that of the Spears. “Britney Spears’ family had to come together. Mom and dad are separate [but] they had to come together, they had to commit her into a psych ward, they had to take her away from her children, but the difference is – her father laid very low during this process. He went in himself and quiet – and laid low.”
