Michael Lohan will become a producer on Deeds, a new NBC reality show to test the generosity of guests.

Amy Weber is the main host of Deeds, where five contestants will compete for the votes of viewers at the end of the show.

Lohan told Hollyscoop he got involved in the show due to its challenges: “Because it’s very hard stuff. I thought about it and I thought how great Ashton Kutcher did with Punk’d but I wanted to put a twist on it, so instead of celebrities getting punked, it’s as if celebrities are punking regular people into doing good deeds.”

Lohan has been the brunt of attacks lately, following his decision to publicly air tapes of his daughter, Lindsay, and ex-wife Dina. He appeared to be on a self-appointed tough love crusade to save Lindsay from what he alleged was dangerous prescription drug use. Lindsay denied the claims and considered getting a restraining order against him.

In response to a question on whether Deeds will help his public image, he said: “To be honest with you I’m not concerned with my public image, people are always going to say what they want to say about me. I just know where my heart is and God knows where my heart is, and that’s all that matters.”
