Derek Jeter, shortstop for the New York Yankees, says that he loves to record American Idol and Entourage. He even says his favorite character is Drama.

He doesn’t like drama in his real life, though. He says he doesn’t date nearly as much as the media says he does. DJ laughs, saying, “I’ve hung out with and date people I’ve never even met before.”

As for the rumors that he’s been seeing Carrie Underwood, he emphatically states, “Carrie Underwood’s good. She could sing. I’ve never met her! I’ve never met her!”

American Idol reject Vonzell Solomon has released a statement regarding airport security finding a gun in her bag at a Florida Airport. She says “I in no way intended to enter the plane with a firearm. I was rushing to make a scheduled flight and simply did not realize it was in my handbag until I went through security.” I have just one word for her – ridiculous. Most of us are struggling to pack no more than 3 ounces of liquid but Baby V has a Glock in her clutch. One question still remains in my mind though – what the heck was she doing with a gun in the first place?

Who would have thought that Taylor Hicks was a fan of the Jonas Brothers? The 31-year old season 5 winner of American Idol joined a crowd of screaming fans outside ABC studios in New York City before an appearance on ‘Live with Regis & Kelly’ last week holding a sign which read “The Jonas Brothers Rock My World!” Taylor was on the show promoting the Broadway production of ‘Grease’. He made his Broadway debut when he joined the cast in the role of ‘Teen Angel’ last June 6. His character is the one who sings ‘Beauty School Dropout’ to which the Idol adds his soulful flavor.

Michael Jackson pulled out of a huge TV comeback – with stagefright.

Jacko, 49, was to sing live on the final of American Idol in front of a TV audience of 27 million. But 24 hours before the show in Los Angeles he bottled out, saying: “I can’t do it. Everyone will hate me.”

A source said: “This was his big chance but he got stage-fright.”

As they say, all good things come to an end. A new report is saying that last Tuesday night’s American Idol only reeled in 21.25 million viewers. It may not sound bad but it’s not Idol best. Apparently, the show has not been that low since its second season in 2003. If you see the number of viewers for Tuesday night performance shows from January 15 up to last week, the numbers go up and down from 33.24 million to the disappointing 21.25 million. It has just not been their season. What is the deal? They need to shake things up for next season.

He’s got the dreadlocks, those heavily lidded eyes and even short-term memory lapse – could Jason Castro have been high the whole time? According to his comments to OK! magazine, he never was. The American Idol castoff said that he’s never been stoned in his life saying “I think that, especially with things like [AI], people like to stereotype so easily. People have always said that. I don’t worry about what people say.” Yeah! Leave the guy alone!

As if the Idol craziness wasn’t enough each week, the castoffs are crazier. Ramiele Malubay was this week’s wannabe to return home. But she isn’t exactly going home.

Ramiele says she is planning to move in with Danany Noriega, former Idol sendoff. She says they aren’t sure when exactly but that is the plan. Ramiele says, “We’re really close. We still talk every single day.”

She also says that one day she and Danny will do a duet together. Some of this has sparked rumors that she and Danny are dating…but, umm, anyone who watched the show will say that isn’t happening.

It was a pretty shocking elimination on American Idol on Wednesday as Chikezie was booted off. There were a couple of performances that were worse than his but he still got the boot. Jason Castro, who played it pretty safe with his performance, and Syesha Mercado, who I thought was great the night before, joined Chikezie in the bottom three. The elimination wasn’t all that was interesting that night as Carly Smithson also took the time to address rumors that she was pregnant. Apparently, that’s the reason why she wore something like a corset the night before – to show that she was still flat in the tummy and that she wasn’t pregnant.

Here’s some even sadder news for American Idol fans. A 25-year old mother of 5 accidentally left 2 of her young children in the bathtub last week in Indianapolis leaving one to nearly drown because she was too busy watching American Idol. Luckily, the little tot survived. According to a police report, Sheila Brooks placed her youngest kids, a 3-year old and a 1-year old, in the tub and then went to another room to fetch clothes. She then watched some Idol with 2 of her older kids when she suddenly remembered about the 2 in the tub. She sent her 7-year old daughter to get them out but when she got there, the 3-year old was underwater and not moving. She called for her mom, who then performed CPR and called 911. No charges have been filed against Brooks and the kid is still in the hospital.

Who would’ve have thought that the sassy Jessica Alba look alike American Idol contestant Danny Noriega was once a goth? A video of the former hardcore punk rocker turned future AI wannabeen has been unearthed which features him going off on a crazy rant on the baby Jesus’ birthday. Danny posted the nonsense on MySpace in which he himself sends some pretty disturbing and vile Christmas greetings to the rest of the world. This confirms that he really was a punk a couple years back. Oh how things change, don’t they? He should go goth again and rant on Simon.

He was once linked to Britney Spears and it seems that American Idol contestant Robbie Carrico picked up one of the fallen pop star’s habits – wearing wigs. It is being said that the 26-year old long-haired wannabe’s hair is actually a wig and it’s got Idol execs flipping out. Sources say that Robbie never talks about his hair piece and that makes production members feel like it’s the pink elephant, or I should say blonde elephant, in the room. It seems that Simon was right, he is a fake. Fortunately, no one has to see that hideous mane again as Robbie was voted off at this week’s elimination.

Clay Aiken was recently on Entertainment Tonight and just like every other person, he’s obsessed with Britney Spears. And he has some strong opinions about the pop wreck.
The American Idol alum turned Broadway star told ET that “We have a presidential election going on, and for whatever reason this is what people are interested in. I think that is probably the saddest thing. Leave her alone, just leave her alone.” Well, if you stop talking about her and stop dignifying those types of questions, the obsession wouldn’t be fed. Pfft. Live and learn Clay. No one is newsworthy unless you talk about them.

There’s a lot of pregnancy news running around Hollywood, although I would hardly consider Jessica Sierra as part of Hollywood. It has been confirmed that the American Idol reject is pregnant – and she’s still in jail!

Sources say that the father is a ‘rapper’ and that Jessica is actually ecstatic over the news. She’s currently in the infirmary in the Falkenburg Road Jail in Florida on a ‘pregnancy diet’. That’s going to be one screwed up baby. Wasn’t she on something when she got arrested? Maybe her baby and Lily Allen’s nicotine baby would end up hanging out together as they grow up.

We’re stuck with boring old well behaved people like Shane Ward and Leona Lewis; whilst the US wannabe’s seem a little more exciting. One of Simon Cowell’s ex contestants on American Idol already faces up to 11 years in jail on an array of offences; and now a major porn company has gained access to a sex tape she “starred” in and plans to release it.

Jessica Sierra got all the way down to the final ten in the fourth series of the popular competition; but it seems she is able to gain more attention off screen. Not really the type of attention you want though really. Last week she was arrested after a drunken confrontation with police outside a Tampa Bay nightclub. She was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence, plus violating conditions of her parole on felony battery and drug possession charges in an earlier case.

To add insult to injury when she was being carted away by police she apparently vomited in the back of the patrol car and offered the police officer who arrested her oral sex to let her go. Hmm can’t think why he declined can you?

Terri – fast becoming a name in her own right after presenting reports on celebrity TV station E! – has accepted that her relationship with X-Factor bad boy Simon Cowell will not last; because Simon does not want a family.

Oh my, could you imagine being the son of Simon Cowell? Talk about never living up to expectations. I feel almost thankful for the unborn children that he doesn’t want any!

Terri says: “I’ve known Simon’s thoughts on marriage and babies from the beginning. He doesn’t want kids, full stop. But I would definitely love to have a baby. Not now, because I’m so busy. I love my job and wouldn’t want to give up what I’m doing. But in the future, I definitely will.”

Meantime, Simon upset Terri on a recent chat show when asked which three people he would save from a sinking ship. He replied his mother, himself, and fellow ‘American Idol’ judge Paula Abdul. He didn’t understand why Terri stormed off after that…
