Celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore had their Twitter followers disappear for a short time after a virus took hold of the site.

The social networking site, popular with the celeb couple as well as the Kardashians among others, was hit by a virus that meant users were unable to access their followers for two hours from 5pm UK time.

Kutcher wrote a message when the virus took hold saying: "Twitter is being hacked by some turkish hacker. haha I have 0 followers."

Moore added: "The turkish hacker is really doing a number on twitter wow!"

After the site went back to normal, Kutcher posted a message saying: "Whew!"

Bosses of the site had put the glitch down to a clean-up process on another issue as a Turkish computer expert had previously posted information on how to ‘force’ other users to follow them.

A spokesman for the site said: "We identified and resolved a bug that permitted a user to force other users to follow them."

Demi Moore, 47, revealed she would like a baby with husband Ashton Kutcher.

Moore has three grown children from her former marriage to Bruce Willis. MSNBC reports she said: “We talk about it and it’s something that we would like.”

Kutcher, who is 32, has shown his natural talent for fatherhood as a step-father. The families of Moore and Willis, who is remarried, have remained close.

Moore said Kutcher was an “amazing father to my daughters already”. She added: “So I have no doubt that if it’s in our future, it would be another incredible part of our journey together.”

Elle Macpherson, currently filming for The Beautiful Life, fears that because she has not had plastic surgery she looks old compared to her young co-stars.

The 46-year-old super model was said to reveal she is shocked at how she looks compared to much younger co-stars like Mischa Barton and Sara Paxton.

Macpherson said: “Sometimes I really see that I’m the one that hasn’t done anything because I think people must think, ‘Oh my God, she looks old.’”

Macpherson plays the part of a modelling agency head in the Ashton Kutcher produced TV series about aspiring models in New York City. The role is her first acting part since appearing on Friends several years ago.

Mischa Barton’s upcoming drama The Beautiful Life has been put back a week with the actress admitted to a Los Angeles hospital under a psychiatric hold order.

The delay of the CW drama, however, is being laid to incomplete sets and will commence July 31.

Barton’s spokesperson said she had been “safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalised, as per the recommendation of her doctor”.

Ashton Kutcher is the executive producer of The Beautiful Life, which centres on a group of models living together in New York. Barton is to play a supermodel and veteran of the fashion circuit who is struggling to stay at the top of her game.

Barton is in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The UK-born US-raised actress who was a star of The OC television drama series has spent time in rehab.

She last year pleaded no contest to driving under the influence in Los Angeles and was sentenced to three years’ probation. In 2007, she was briefly hospitalised for what a spokesperson described as a bad reaction to medication.
