Uma Thurman’s ex husband Ethan Hawke has tied the knot in a secret ceremony in America.

The actor-turned-author Ethan, 37, married his long-time girlfriend and former nanny of his children, Ryan Shawhughes, 28, last month in a secret ceremony. No other details about the wedding have been released.

Ryan is expected to give birth to the couple’s first child later this month, believed to be a daughter.

Dead Poet’s Society actor Ethan met Ryan when she was hired to look after Maya Ray, 10, and Levon Roan, six, his two children with his first wife Uma. A friend of the couple said last December that they were “incredibly in love,” and in January Ethan’s publicist confirmed the couple were expecting a baby.

The marriage comes just weeks after Uma announced her engagement to Swiss multi-millionaire Arpad Busson.

Ethan and Uma were married for six years between 1998 and 2004.

Umm, last time I checked, there were some legal guidelines for marriage. Sheesh, people, just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you’re above the law.

I may have found out the reason why Tony Romo still showed up as Jessica Simpson’s date for Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s wedding even though they broke up prior to the event. People magazine cut a $1.4 million deal for the couple’s wedding pictures but there was a certain string attached – that Jess and Tony would be there to provide a good photo op. It sounds just about right because who would pay for Ashlee alone anyway? That’s why People put an inset picture of Jessica and Tony on the cover that Ashlee and Pete were on. Jess and Tony sell. Pete and Ashlee – not so much.

Ashlee Simpson will wed Pete Wentz in a secret ceremony on Saturday. Hmm, not so secret if we know about it though, is it?

The ‘Pieces of Me’ singer and the Fall Out Boy rocker – who got engaged last month – have told guests to keep the day free although they have not let anyone know where the nuptials will take place.

A source said: “Proper invites have not been sent out but guests have been given a save the date notice.”

On Friday, close friends and family will join the couple for a rehearsal dinner. The following day, guests ‘will be transported in shuttles to the wedding location”.

Ashlee’s spokesperson has refused to confirm or deny the rumoured nuptials, saying: “This is a private matter. There is nothing to confirm.”

Mariah Carey is reportedly engaged to Nick Cannon.

The ‘Touch My Body’ singer - who sparked rumours the US rapper has popped the question when she was recently spotted wearing a large diamond ring - has reportedly told friends she is planning to tie the knot.

A source close to the 38-year-old star said: “Mariah is happier than she has ever been, and she puts a lot of that down to being with Nick. When he asked her to marry him, she had no hesitation in saying yes.”

The couple met in March when Nick, 27, directed the video for Mariah’s new single ‘Bye Bye’. Mariah - who was previously married to record executive Tommy Mottola - recently revealed any man would find it hard to compete with the amount of “adoration” she gets from her fans worldwide.

She said: “I’ve always had really low self-esteem, and I still do. What is weird about that is being on stage, and the love that you get, and the adoration that you feel from your real fans. It’s hard for a partner to compete - just imagine.”

R’n'B’s golden couple could be about to get hitched.

Beyonce and Jay-Z, who have dated for six years, reportedly took out a marriage license yesterday morning in New York. The document is valid for 60 days.

The pair are a famously private couple and are reluctant to discuss their relationship in public.

Rumours of a blossoming relationship started when Beyonce appeared in the rapper’s hit 03 Bonnie & Clyde and marriage speculation has been frequent ever since.

In December 2006 the couple’s reps were quick to quash rumours the couple were set to get married in the Caribbean.

When asked if the latest rumour was true, Beyonce’s rep said: “No comment”.

After being denied a concert to cheer up jailed hubby, Amy Winehouse’s new idea to boost Blake’s spirits is of a more romantic nature. On Friday 4th Jan the couple plan to renew their wedding vows in a low-key service at the Pentonville prison.

When I think of vow reaffirmation I think of couples who have been married 20 years or longer… but each to their own.

A source said, “When Blake was first arrested, they both declared their undying love for each other and promised each other it would be good to renew their vows. And the time feels right to do that now. They are missing each other terribly. Amy wants them to repeat the same vows they took when they married in Miami last May.”

I guess it’s an improvement to the rumoured suicide pact anyway.

Billie Piper has gone and tied the knot. The British actress and former pop star walked down the aisle with fellow thespian Laurence Fox at the Parish Church of St. Mary in Eastbourne, England. So how did Billie spend her last day as a single woman?

Most ladies would indulge themselves in a day of pampering. A few would spend a wild night with a bachelorette party. But Billie chose to go to lunch on Sunday with her ex-husband, UK radio personality Chris Evans. Well, that’s mature and health. I just have to wonder what her current husband thinks of that.
